Crafter Hemostats – A Must-Have Tool for Makers

If I could only keep one tool on my workbench, these hemostats would be it. Used daily in my studio, they’re an essential for doll making, hand sewing, and all kinds of fine-detail crafting. Whether you're turning tiny arms right-side out, stuffing tricky corners, or pulling a stubborn needle through thick fabric, hemostats give you the grip and control your hands can't always manage.

Crafted from stainless steel, they feature locking serrated jaws for a secure, non-slip grip and blunt tips that won’t poke or tear delicate materials. I use them for:

  • Turning out awkward shapes

  • Stuffing fine or narrow pieces

  • Clamping fabric or thread in place

  • Pulling stuck needles or pins

  • Holding small pieces steady while sewing

Once you add a pair to your toolkit, you'll find yourself reaching for them again and again.

I've chosen to carry my favourite sizes—just right for maneuverability and control. In my experience, hemostats that are too small don’t open properly or lock well, and larger ones feel clumsy. These strike the perfect balance.
