My Headless Horseman PDF Pattern is now available in the studio shop.

There is something about the Headless Horseman that feels woven into autumn itself — cooler evenings, leaves skittering across the ground, candlelight in the window, and that little sense of mystery that arrives with the season. He is the sort of piece you would look forward to bringing out each year.

This finished figure stands approximately 17 inches tall on a wooden plaque, making him fully self-standing with no separate stand required. A full wire armature runs through the body, allowing for natural posing and helping give him a wonderful presence once complete.

He is constructed primarily by machine sewing, with hand sewn leather boots as a special finishing detail. His pumpkin head is created from air dry clay, and I guide you through that process step by step within the pattern.

The written pattern is detailed and thoughtfully laid out, with many photos, diagrams, and clear instruction throughout. I’ve also included a full YouTube tutorial so you can craft alongside me at your own pace and feel supported through the process.

Please note that turning out his gloved hands does require micro or miniature turning tubes, which are available in the studio shop as well, and for buyers in the USA, Dollmakers Journey carries Tiny Turning Tubes.

I would consider this an intermediate level project, but if you’ve been wanting to stretch your skills a little, this is a deeply satisfying make. With the guidance included, you may find yourself more capable than you think. A wonderful project for those who enjoy creating pieces with real seasonal character.
